Let me take a moment to offer a *small* warning: a LITTLE goes a LONG way when it comes to using essential oils in your cooking and baking. You only need 1-2 drops of essential oils to match the flavor of 1 tsp. dried herbs or 1 Tbls. fresh herbs.

Benefits of Essential Oils

Not only do essential oils add a flavor twist to all of your tried and true recipes, but they boast a plethora of health benefits to boot. Essential Oils support the mind, body and spirit; when taken internally, each oil possesses the ability to support body systems, organs, moods, and more. Not all oils are created equal, however! Be sure to use high quality oils and always check the label. If an oil is recommended for internal use, there will be a “Nutrition Facts” label on the side.

When ingested, essential oils directly enter the blood stream via the gastrointestinal tract, where they are transported throughout the rest of the body. Essential oils are lipid soluble so they are readily transported to all organs of the body, including the brain. Then, like all things we consume, essential oils are metabolized by the liver and other organs and are then excreted.
